Foothills County Daytime Drive

Meet up time: 10:15am Canadian Tire or 11am at Ida May's Bragg Creek

Depart time: 10:30am Canadian Tire, ~11:30am Bragg Creek

Here are a few quick notes and further information for our drive.

- Ida Mays Ice Cream Shop will be the only place for your ice cream fix since the shops at The Granary are under renovation! Location for Ida Mays, if you don’t already know. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Zpg5e8PbLD7Az15H9

- Lunch and “refreshments” will be at The Hard Knox Brewery and Growleez food truck. Both places have been advised of our numbers; your patience for service may be necessary! Eating space is mostly picnic tables and outdoor grass beer-garden seating. Feel free to bring your lawn chair since it may be crowded, i.e. others with the same idea! - Journey Management: If you are new to drives in Foothills County, please familiarize yourself with the journey map. There will be a few roadside pull-over stops after Bragg Creek to keep the group together (discussed at Ida’s). It will be a hot and sunny day, so be sure to bring sunscreen, hats and stay well hydrated.

DIRECTIONS:

Start – Canadian Tire (Shawnessy) 250 Shawville Way SE

Meet at 10:15 AM, Leave at 10:30 AM

Finish – 16th St W at MacLeod Trail

Leave Canadian Tire @ 10:30am

• Follow AB-22X W and Hwy 22/AB-22 to AB-762 S in Foothills County 23 min (37.3 km)
• Head to Bragg Creek

Stop at Ida May's Ice Cream (44 White Ave)

• Back track to AB-762 S. Drive to Millarville Rd/Range Rd 32 in Millarville
• Turn  onto Hwy 549 W/AB-549 E

Millarville

• Turn right onto Hwy 22
• Diamond Valley (Turner Valley) (60 minutes)

Lunch – Hard Knox Brewery - 12:00 noon

• Head east on Hwy 22 toward Veterans Way SE

Diamond Valley (Black Diamond)

• Head east on Centre Ave E/AB-7 E toward 1 St SE Continue to follow AB-7 E
• Take Township Rd 203A and Big Rock Trail to Southridge Dr/AB-2A N
• Turn left onto Southridge Dr/AB-2A N
• Continue to follow AB-2A N

Okotoks

• Head west on Elizabeth St toward Elk Ave
• Elizabeth St turns slightly right and becomes AB-549 W
• Turn left to stay on AB-549 W
• AB-549 to 112 St. W – turn right, head north towards Granary Road - Park.

Dessert - Stop at Granary Road Farmer’s Market

• Return to 226 Ave W to Red Deer Lake Meats intersection
• At this intersection, either turn left (96th St W) to return to Hwy 22x via Spruce Meadows Green (turn left)
