Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary

Who we are...

The Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary is a group of over 150 people who are enthusiastic about vintage sports cars. Most of our cars are post war sporting classics such as Austin-Healey, Jaguar, MG, Morgan and Triumph. We also count owners of more exotic machinery among our ranks including Alfa, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ford GT. The age of club vehicles range from the 1930's through to 2006.
Sizes cover the field from a Rolls Royce to a Geo Metro. (The owner claims the initials for a Geo Metro are only an MG going the other way!)

What we do...

From September to April we hold general meetings on the second Wednesday of the month. Our location is the
Austrian Canadian Cultural Centre,
3112 -11th Street N.E.,
Calgary, Alberta.

The meeting pattern is generally:-

During the summer months our business meetings are kept as short as possible and we often have an evening drive in lieu of entertainment, weather permitting.

In the months when it is reasonable to drive a sports car in Calgary, even if not with the top down, we enjoy rallies, planned drives and social events. A particular feature of our club is "drive-to-eat" events where we drive to restaurants or picnic sites.

Club Tools

A major advantage enjoyed by club members is the use of our extensive collection of tools. Over the years we have collected many tools that the average enthusiast may not have. Examples are valve-spring compressors, MIG and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, tuning scope, engine hoist, and micrometers. Most of the tools are free to members with a small charge for consumables such as welding gas and wire.

Starting on January 1, 2010 a $50.00 dollar deposit will be required to borrow any club tools. This will be refunded upon return of the tool.

Other advantages of membership...

Discounts are offered to members on parts and services by several sports car supply and service shops.

Appraisals by our qualified members are accepted for vintage vehicle insurance. This coverage is available for older cars but requires car club membership to be eligible.

As a member of the Specialty Vehicles Association of Alberta (formerly AAACS) (and by affiliation with the National Association of Antique Automobile Clubs of Canada), the VSCCC is active in lobbying governments for the protection of auto-hobby related aspects.
Our Safety Check form is at Safety Check Form.

To find out more about this aspect of proposed government legislation as it relates to sports cars visit the NAAACCC website, or contact our club representative or at 275-3998.
